Flyer 'spiral' Sept 2003 - Jul 2004
This was an unusual one as it was printed business card size instead of the usual A6/postcard size. The image is of a painting by one of the Grace community, Moya. Moya explains her fascination with spirals I have a subconscious facination with spirals. There is something exciting and calming about them at the same time. In it's first incarnation it resembled the ripples you get on water from a single drop - one drop affecting the whole pond. This painting came from some feelings I had after my Grandfather died five years ago. My grandparents were so obviously in love until their ends. This amazing marriage had a hugely influential and positive affect on our whole family that the drop of water on the pond says it all really. To taste some of this legacy do a search on 'Jean Earle' or buy some of her poetry books through Amazon. 'The Bed of Memory' was the last poetry book my Grandma published and is full of poems about her loss - very cathartic for anyone grieving also. So from the drop of water grew the spiral and with similar thoughts to it's applicity (applicableness!) to God and Grace. God gives out stuff - a centrifugal, self-giving love that affects us and hopefully we pass on. Grace gives out stuff too - for the church to use, and hopefully pass on. I have painted quite a few variations of the said shape that I have been fortunate enough to get into a few galleries. They aren't on a site yet but if you are further interested you can contact Moya at rtmyouth@yahoo.co.uk |
